Business email,
ready for the move.

We handle business email moves from older IMAP mail servers to Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online. Let’s look at the mailboxes, the people using them and what needs to carry across.

Start with the mailbox list.

We establish the source provider, mailbox sizes, users, aliases and access available. We also check your Microsoft 365 organisation account, domain ownership and licences needed for the destination. Those details shape the migration quote.

Agree what needs moving.

IMAP migration moves email; contacts, calendars, tasks and other non-mail items need separate handling. Local archives, shared mailboxes, forwarding and delegated access are checked individually. We put the agreed scope in writing.

Plan the change for the business.

We agree preparation, the migration approach, domain email routing changes, timing and communication with the people using the mailboxes. Devices and Outlook profiles may need configuration. The plan states who carries out those changes and how the switch is checked.

Check the handover.

We agree checks for mail delivery, sending, user access and any separately scoped items. The old service’s retention and closure are decided with you after the migration checks. Microsoft licences and ongoing administration are separate cost and responsibility questions.

Microsoft: IMAP migration to Microsoft 365

What would you
like to know?

These are the questions worth sorting out before handing over access or agreeing the work.

Do you move IMAP email to Microsoft 365?

Yes. That is part of the business email migration work Flying Penguin handles. We assess the source and destination before agreeing the job.

Does IMAP move contacts and calendars?

No. IMAP migration is for email. Contacts, calendars and other non-mail items need their own transfer approach and scope.

Are Microsoft 365 licences included?

The quote identifies the licences needed and who supplies and administers them. Do not assume that a migration quote includes ongoing Microsoft subscriptions.
